It’s comedy time from Russia with three classic and very funny one act plays written by Anton Chekhov – The Barbarian, The Proposal, and The Celebration. The Barbarian (also known as The Boor/The Bear) is a farce about a widow attempting to remain loyal to her dead husband’s memory. The Proposal follows a hypochondriac as he attempts to propose marriage to a landowner’s aging daughter. The Celebration has a bank manager dealing with his flirtatious wife and and a strange women while preparing for the fifteenth anniversary celebration of his bank where he hopes to attract would-be investors.
